ඩෙංගු රෝගීන් සිටින රෝහල් වාට්ටු සුදුසු ලෙස ආවරණය කිරීමේ ව්යාපෘතිය - Initiative for covering hospital wards housing dengue patients
Dengue has assumed epidemic proportions now. Whilst doing everything possible to destroy mosquitoes and eliminate their breeding, everyone --especially those who are living in dengue prone areas-- should use mosquito nets and repellents, and wear long clothes to fully cover their hands and feet to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes.
Dengue can be effectively controlled by preventing the transfer of virus from dengue patients to mosquitoes. If, for four months, half of the dengue patients (50%) at a minimum could be kept free from mosquito bites, we should be able to eradicate dengue within a matter of 4 months. In this regard, the only thing dengue patients --and also those who are having fever and suspected of dengue—need do is protect themselves from mosquito bites for 5 days (if possible 7 days) by taking every possible precautions. The blog site, eradicatedengue.blogspot.com, provides ample information on this.
As the next logical step, it is envisaged to cover hospital wards where dengue patients are housed. This initiative would naturally entail lot of effort and coordination.
